CEO and Founder
Jason Syversen is a computer security technologist and entrepreneur with 19 years of experience in technical and leadership roles with cybersecurity, and research and development organizations.
As the founder and CEO of Siege Technologies, Jason has overseen the development of numerous disruptive cybersecurity technologies, many of which have been sold to or licensed by government agencies or corporations. Since its formation in 2009, Siege has experienced year over year growth.
Before founding Siege, Jason was a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). During his time at DARPA’s Strategic Technology Office, Jason managed a portfolio of five programs totaling over $92M in development and six transition partners, in addition to multiple other smaller studies. Jason is the sole inventor of a malware detection patent and a co-inventor for several pending patents.
Jason also founded, advises, and/or invests in five other cybersecurity firms with a mission to tie disruptive technology to operational impact. He has served as a reviewer for IEEE Security and Privacy and IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing
CFO and Co-Founder
Sam Corbitt is a recognized finance expert in the tech and aerospace industries, with over 20 years experience both founding and leading several firms throughout his tenure.
As the chief financial officer, Sam is responsible for all contracting, accounting, financial strategy and corporate financing. In addition to his role at Siege, Sam is a member of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), National Contract Management Association (NCMA), and Program Management Institute (PMI).
Before co-founding Siege in 2009, Sam served as a manager at Rolls-Royce Holdings plc. Prior to that, Sam had financial and management leadership roles at BearingPoint, DRS Technologies, Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin. Sam has worked for large consulting firms as well as consulted independently, from start-ups through Fortune 100 firms.
Joe Sharkey, PhD.
CTO and Vice President
Joe Sharkey is an award-winning scholar and cybersecurity expert with over a decade of experience delivering world-class research and development. As Siege’s chief technology officer and vice president, Joe leads all corporate technical strategy, heads the New York office’s operations, and oversees a number of active research and technology programs.
Since joining Siege in 2010, Joe has been the principal investigator and program manager on 16 R&D efforts, including the design and implementation of Siege’s set of custom thin hypervisors for Intel, AMD and ARM CPUs. Prior to joining Siege, Joe served as a senior research scientist at Assured Information Security, and researched computer architecture & microprocessor design at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center.
Joe has an issued patent titled “Method and System for Reducing an Impact of Malware During a Boot Sequence”, and two pending patents on software protection techniques, entitled “Method and System for Securing a Processing System”, and “Host-based Data Exfiltration Detection.” He is a recognized thought leader with more than 25 papers published on the topics of computer architecture and microprocessor design in competitive ACM/IEEE venues.
